'Man Down' Music Video by Rihanna
Rihanna is just a hit-making machine! She releases song after song and just keeps racking up her #1's. This time around she is going for a darker and much more serious route with the video for her newest single 'Man Down' off the album 'LOUD'. My favorite part of the entire song is just her accent. As everyone knows Rihanna is from Barbados and when she speaks she has her native accent, but very rarely does she let it come through in her music. This is a prime example of when she does, and I love every second of it.
The video begins with Rihanna killing her lover straight in the head. It makes quite an impact and has, of course, garnered the attention of the Parents Television Council (who I hate with a vengeance). They said it should be puled from TV because it advocates cold, calculated murder. Did they even see the entire video? She killed the guy because he raped her. Rihanna is making a statement here and telling girls that they don't need to put up with any form of rape, whether it's sexual, physical or verbal. She took a huge risk here and all people do is come down on her. What she did is admirable to me and should be commended. How do you feel on this issue? I personally love this video because it gives so much depth to Rihanna as an artist and as a person.
