Titanic is my all-time favorite movie, and so when I heard it was being released in 3D I couldn't have been more excited. James Cameron is the leading innovator in the 3D genre so I knew the film would be in the realm of
Avatar. I was not disappointed. Living in New York City is the most amazing thing ever, and Wednesday night proved it. At the Regal Theater in Times Square a special screening of
Titanic took place. Not only did we get special
Titanic gold 3D glasses and a beautiful lithograph, but James Cameron himself showed up for an interview and a Q&A session with the fans. The event took place in one of Regals' newest innovations, the RPX (Regal Premium Experience). The theater is essentially the best out there. The screen was ginormous: smaller than IMAX but larger than normal. There is state of the art surround sound (basically the best), and the seats were all leather and very comfortable. Definitely one of the best places around to see the film. If you have an RPX theater near you definitely check it out.

When I got to the theater there was already a huge line, and I was towards the back. We were let into the theater in groups on twenty at about 7PM, and when I got in there I was lucky enough to get a seat in the very back row so I had an excellent view of the screen. By the time everyone got situated it was about 7:30, and then James Cameron himself came out. There was an interviewer asking James some questions for about twenty minutes. Listening to him talk was magical and inspiring. This man really is an innovative director who knows his craft inside out. His scope of knowledge about the entire Titanic legacy was astounding, and listening to him talk about in such detail made me want to became an expert in the field. After a while he began taking questions from the audience, and that was a great experience as well. People asked some really deep and intriguing questions, and James had so many great anecdotes to share with us. In the short half-hour he was with us I fell in love with him as a visionary director, and I think I may need to watch all of his other films now!

Now on to the film itself. One word to describe the movie: stunning. That's really all that needs to be said. The entire film was made crisper and clearer, and the 3D was done so incredibly well that about only fifteen minutes into watching the film I forgot I even had the 3D glasses on. It was so immersive that you feel like you are there with each and every character. The film was just simply beautiful. As someone who was only 5 when the film first came out, I never got to experience it with an audience on the big screen so this was like a dream come true. There's nothing quite like sharing in an experience like this with other people. The film felt like it was brand new, and by the time it finished I couldn't believe 3 hours and 15 minutes had just passed. You get sucked into it, and never even realize how immersed you are. The power of James Cameron. Every one of you out there must go see this film no matter how many times you have already seen it. It's a new experience that is unparalleled.

Is it simply me or does it appear like some of these responses look like they are coming from brain dead visitors? :-P And, if you are posting at additional online social sites, I'd
