'Dynamic Duets' by Glee

After weeks of atrocious episodes of Glee, we finally get to see a decent and fun episode. As the episode started I was so upset and furious because it was one of the mot ridiculous story lines the writers of Glee have ever done. All of the McKinley students are dressed as their own superheroes, and the episode starts off with a superhero council meeting as we find out the Nationals trophy has been stolen by the new head of the Dalton Academy Warblers, Hunter. It's above and beyond ridiculous, but thankfully it turns into a very heartwarming and well-written episode.

With the trophy being stolen, Blaine heads back to Dalton to try and get it back. While he's there Hunter and Sebastian try to make him transfer back, brilliantly pointing out that the only reason why he transferred to McKinley was to be with Kurt who is no longer there. They try to woo Blaine by performing a beautiful Kelly Clarkson song. The Warblers' performances are always perfect, and this one was no different. It was brilliantly done, and hearing Blaine sing with them was a treat.

As his first assignment for Glee Club, Finn pairs everyone up for their assignment of Dynamic Duets. Ryder and Jake are up first as they try to impress Marley. The performance was really good, but I didn't really care for the song choice. I felt it was old-fashioned and could have been updated better, but their vocals were very good.

Marley and Kitty are paired, which proves to be a toxic relationship. Kitty has convinced Marley to continue down the path of bulimia. She's also trying to stop Marley from going out with Jake. The two team up for this classic tune, and it's so much fun. I don't know how you could hate this song, and it's just full of so much energy. The girls both have great voices, and their duet turned out to be very good.

Blam time!! I've already expressed how much love I have for the new friendship between Sam and Blaine, and this scene made me fall ever more in love with them. Blaine decides he is going to transfer back to Dalton, but Sam, through a rousing and inspiring speech, convinces him to stay at McKinley. They then team up to sing this song. It's always nice to do something other than the overproduced pop songs, so this guitar driven tune sounded great. And of course Blaine and Sam's voices together was beautiful. Their relationship is one of the best new parts of this season.

Having brought people together with the assignment for this week, Finn celebrates his first successful assignment by having everyone perform fun.'s 'Some Nights'. Like always, the big group number is one of the best parts of the episode. It's really nice to have the new kids singing lead for once, and it's moments like these that give me faith for the rest of the season.

One of the best parts of the episode was when Finn tasked Ryder and Jake to share their deepest secrets with each other in order to work out their differences. It was a really emotional and well-written scene. Ryder reveals that he cannot read or write properly. Finn takes him to get tested, and it is revealed that Ryder is dyslexic. Ryder sharing his feelings about his parents not being proud of him because he's "dumb" was heart wrenching, and this is by far one of the best plot lines of the season. But knowing Glee this will probably never be mentioned again. Like I've already said, the Blam relationship was the highlight of the episode. They definitely need to concentrate on this more. Once you get past the whole "high schoolers dressing up as superheroes and creating their own Justice League of sorts" absurd plot line, it was actually a very good episode.
