'Your Makeup Is Terrible' Music Video by Alaska Thunderfuck

Season 5's comeback kid Alaska Thunderfuck is one of my favorite contestants to ever come from the show. Not only is she genuinely one of the nicest people you could ever meet, she is also brilliant. From her comedic timing and incredible wit to her she-larious videos she's put out as a response to Season 6, Alaska knows how to make us laugh. She also makes music, but this time she's really created something worthy of taking notice.

Following last year's 'Ru Girl' which was a hot hip-hop number that chronicled the fame and life of a Drag Race star, Alaska's switching it up for an electro-pop number. Branching off of the fragrance challenge from Season 5 which she won, 'Your Makeup Is Terrible' is a hilarious yet danceable tune that is an instant favorite.

While it still features no real singing, just a lot of speak-singing like the rest of her stuff, the hot beat is where it's at. This actually sounds so well-produced that I could hear the beat on the radio and it could be a smash. But, the real brilliance comes in the form of the video.

At first glance it doesn't seem like much, Alaska 5000 from the planet Glamtron reciting a monologue and looking stunningly fabulous in her alien make-up which we don't see too often these days. Then she steps out of her car in a beautiful Cruella number as she's escorted into the club (where we get a cameo from scrumptious Pit Crew member Shawn Morales), and she tells all the girls their make-up is terrible.

But then the music stops and the video has an incredibly artistic moment that sees the destruction of Alaska. In boy drag as Cody, he begins shaving his hair off. This is certainly real, not an illusion, kittens! And Cody is seen broken, in the middle of a barren room into which make-up legend Mathu Anderson walks, clutches Cody, and they are then covered in colored dust à la Pink's 'Try' video. It's a gorgeous and poignant moment that elevates the video about your average drag queen party track, thanks in part to the creative direction of director Saša Numić. Alaska asked us if we were ready for her, but I don't think any of us were ready for this.
