'Froot' by Marina and the Diamonds

Marina and the Diamonds really made her mark two years ago when she released her album Electra Heart and gave us some of the most perfect pop songs ever. She killed off her character at the end of last year, but she's finally back with her new persona who is all about making sure we get our daily servings of fruit.

'Froot' is an almost six minute long production that sees Marina going in a different direction than her usual sound. This time she goes for an 8-Bit sound as she travels through spacey disco beats. Her sweetly calming voice drifts over the pulsating beat as she sings how she's "hanging like a fruit / ready to be juiced."

Marina basically creates an extended metaphor of herself as a fruit that's finally ripe and sweet enough to be picked by her man. It's quite an interesting song, and definitely a new direction for her. It'll be interesting to hear what the rest of her album brings.
