'Nightmare' by Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus's Bangerz was one of the biggest records of 2013, and since then no one has stopped talking about her. From her insane Instagram pics to her dedication to the Free the Nipple campaign, the LGBT warrior is getting ready to dominate the music scene once again with her new Flaming Lips-inspired album dropping later this year.

Until then, a previously recorded track just leaked and it's quite exquisite. 'Nightmare' is reminiscent of Miley's earlier work as her powerful voice is backed by pulsing synths. What's great about the song is that even though it's more old school Miley, it's got the power and assuredness that her Bangerz album was chock full of.

The bridge is particularly entrancing as it builds for the final blowing chorus. This may actually be one of the best songs she's ever recorded. That being said, I'm ready to hear this new record that Mike WiLL Made It describes as "a country Lana Del Rey backed by a choir, except it's Miley pouring her heart out."
