Yesterday, Katy Perry premiered the new music video for her latest single, the extremely personal 'Wide Awake'. The song is by far one of my favorite songs Perry has ever released, and even though it doesn't hide her weak vocals, the soul she puts into it overpowers any flaw you could find. And with one of the best songs she has ever released, Katy has also released one of her best music videos ever. Katy and her gorgeous purple hair take a trip into a fantasy world that is very Pan's Labyrinth-esque. The video begins with her shooting the album cover of Teenage Dream, then she enters this magical world where it's dark and depressing. Katy is surrounded by her demons, but soon finds her child counterpart. They team up to escape the fairytale world. They then come in contact with Prince Charming, and after Katy gives him a nice (and I'm sure well-deserved) punch, they escape into the promised land where everything is full of life. Katy then resurfaces and takes center stage on her California Dreams Tour. It's truly a beautiful video, and Katy proves why she deserves to be a pop music icon.
