Cher enlisted Lady Gaga's help with her forthcoming album Closer To the Truth, and the duo recorded a duet that was being teased as Cher's big comeback single for months. Then we all got devastating news: Cher stated that Gaga was not happy with her own vocals, and without it being perfect Cher could not release it. So the track was hidden from the world, and we thought we'd never hear it. But today all that changed. The track leaked onto the internet this afternoon, just over 24 hours after Gaga's brand new single 'Applause' was released. Unfortunately, Cher took to Twitter and she seems to be pissed. What makes it worse is that this isn't the final version of 'The Greatest Thing'. The duet exists in it's final state in Cher's possession, but this is an early demo version so we're still not hearing the most awesome version of the track. However, that doesn't diminish how great of a song this is. 'The Greatest Thing' is this awesome, cheesy jam that could have been recorded in the '80s. It's got everything that makes it a standout track: perfect vocals, uplifting vocals that warm the heart and a beautiful sound. Listening to it literally puts a smile on my face, and I may have been crying by the end of it because of how happy I am. Cher needs to just release the final version for us to enjoy and cherish.
