'Talk That Talk' by Rihanna Album Review

'Talk That That' is Rihanna's sixth album in six years.  Quite a feat if I do say so myself.  With each album she evolves into something new and it always seems to fit her perfectly.  With this album she has taken a more club route fused with sex and R&B.  The album is incredibly dirty at times, but there is a nice counterbalance with deep and meaningful songs.  Upon the first listen I had already deemed this as my favorite Rihanna album.  Every song just makes you want to dance and have fun.  "That Rihanna reign just won't let up."

1.  You Da One - 7/10

The second single off the album is a perfect way to kick-off the album.  At first I didn't care for the vocal stylings of the song, but I've really grown to like it.  It's definitely one of the weaker tracks on the album, but it's a fun song that's sure to smash radio.

2.  Where Have You Been - 8/10

This one is one of the more personal songs on the album and is a nice break from the more sexual portion.  It's got a great electro beat fused with guitar to make for a very interesting combination.  This could potentially be a huge club hit.  Extremely catchy and one of my top favorites.

3.  We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) - 8/10

Everyone should be familiar with 'We Found Love' by now as it was the first single to be released from the album, and over the past week Rihanna has been vigorously promoting it.  At first I didn't like the song, but it has grown into one of my favorite Rihanna songs.  It is a huge club banger than gets you up dancing.  Nothing to hate about this one.

4.  Talk That Talk (feat. Jay-Z) - 8/10

The title track is a great R&B infused song with a lyrically great, albeit dirty, rap from the legendary Jay-Z.  Rihanna brings her swag as she sings about her lover talkin' dirty to her all night long.  One word to describe the song: swagalicious.

5.  Cockiness (Love It) - 10/10

Hands down my favorite track on the album and it also happens to be the most sexually suggestive.  It's another hard R&B song and we find Rihanna singing about men being her sex slaves and everything she loves about the act itself.  The tongue-in-cheek lyrics are very clever and I'd love to see this be a single.  Just imagine.  It would NEVER be able to be played on radio.  Usually the best songs are the ones that go untouched.  Pop Perfection.

6.  Birthday Cake - 9/10

My second favorite song on the album, and it's just as sexual as 'Cockiness'.  The beat sort of reminds of Kelis' 'Bossy'.  It's got a sick beat, and some scorching hot lyrics.  Unfortunately, it's barely a minute long so I had to deduct a point from the rating because of that.  Hopefully in the future Rihanna will complete it because it is a gold mine of a song.

"He want that cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake."

7.  We All Want Love - 9/10

One of the more beautiful songs on the album, Rihanna sings about how we all just want love.  It's a great make-the-world-come-together type of song that could be used for a charity.  We hear some great passion in Rihanna's vocals that only adds to the overall splendidness of the song.

8.  Drunk On Love - 9/10

This song is very reminiscent of 'Te Amo' off her album 'Rated R' which is a very good thing.  Rihanna really stretches her vocals on this song and shows her vulnerability.  It's a great song and I think that if it were released as a single it would become another #1 hit.  Love it.

9.  Roc Me Out - 9/10

'Roc Me Out' brings back the rock-influenced tracks on 'Rated R' for a great uptempo Rihanna jam.  It's just Rihanna singing about her man knowing how to get her in the zone.  It's another sex track, but a great one at that.  It's oozing with cockiness.

10. Watch n' Learn - 8/10

Guess what?  More sex, but it's the one song on the album (just as with all her albums) where she brings in her Barbados musical heritage.  It's just one of those fun songs that you can groove to.

11. Farewell - 8/10

We get to a great mid-tempo where we again get to hear Rihanna show off her vocals and ooze passion.  Rihanna sounds truly beautiful in this song, and the lyrics are very touching as she sends her man off.  She just has to say 'Farewell.'  Again, this could be a great single.

12. Red Lipstick - 10/10

In 'Red Lipstick' we get the hard hitting dubstep track.  Rihanna is once again showing off her dominating attitude and she shows that she is on top of the world.  A very hot track that gets you grooving hard.  One of my favorites on the album.  I love it when Rihanna uses her deep voice because we don't get to hear it that much.

13. Do Ya Thang - 8/10

'Do Ya Thang' is just a fun uptempo track.  Rihanna's just being carefree and having a great time.  Even though her beau checks out other girls, she doesn't care because that is who he is.  She just wants him to be himself.  Nice message.

14. Fool In Love - 8/10

This is a mid-tempo that is a staple on many female albums.  It's about falling in love with a "bad boy" and not being ashamed about it.  If you've heard Britney's 'Criminal' then you basically know what the song is about, but Rihanna employs a stronger beat with electric guitars and stretches her vocals.  A very good way to end the album.

Notable Tracks: 'Talk That Talk (feat. Jay-Z)', 'Cockiness (Love It)', 'Birthday Cake', 'Drunk On Love' and 'Red Lipstick'

"Suck my cockiness, Lick my persuasion, Eat my poison, And swallow your pride down, down."
