'Never Close Our Eyes' Music Video by Adam Lambert

People should never underestimate the American Idol Season 8 runner-up, Adam Lambert. He was one of the most talked about contestants to ever be on the show, and he was also one of the most talented. When he released his first glamtastic album it didn't reach the success I had hoped it would, but he still kick-started a very great career, and with his second album Trespassing he is only solidifying his stake in the music market. The music video for the Bruno Mars-penned track 'Never Close Our Eyes' is perfect because it is artistic and will get people talking. The video takes place in a dystopian future where people are imprisoned, fed pills and forced to do hard labor. While the whole dystopian schtick may have become overdone in recent years, Adam offers a fresh approach to the idea, and the visual effects are all very well-done. The video is also chock-full of interesting and subversive imagery that adds to the power of the video. The best part of all comes towards the end when Adam and his fellow cohorts decide to try to escape, and as they do everything goes from a bleak palette to one of bright and vibrant colors, and then it is all topped off with some much needed choreography. For me, Adam is the most original artist to come from Idol, and this video is only the tip of the iceberg for what's to come from him. It is also worth mentioning the amazing feat Adam achieved with his sophomore album Trespassing: the album is the only album in history to debut at #1 by an openly gay artist. Werk, Adam!
