'I Will Not Break' by Elise Testone
Elise Testone was a contestant on the eleventh season of American Idol, the year Phillip Phillips won. She was eliminated far too early, only really showing America what she was made of the couple works prior to her leaving the show. In my opinion, she is one of the most underrated contestants the show has ever had. Elise was one of my favorite contestants from the start, and it broke my heart when she was eliminated. Thankfully, Elise is getting ready to release her debut album which was written and produced by herself. The first single 'I Will Not Break' was released a few days ago, and it's powerful. It's a simple guitar and piano driven track, that relies on Elise's strong husky vocals to carry the song. I love how she sings "not" in the chorus, switching intervals. It's quite gorgeous, and then when it gets to the bridge I lose it. It hits me straight in the heart. Elise brings emotion to life in this song which most artists can never accomplish. Please support her because we need more music like this. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me find a version of this song online so I can't embed anything here. But trust my judgement and buy it from iTunes, or stream it on Spotify if that pleases you more. You won't regret it.
Like you, I loved Elise on Idol! Here are 2 live versions of Elise's doing her new song. The first one is just the song. The second one is a video Elise uploaded, which starts with a conversation between Elise and her cellist. The song comes in about a little after 5:30, when they start to talk about the recording. I was deciding about waiting for the new album, vs downloading this now.. Sounds even better on the itunes preview!

Thanks for that! You MUST download the song. It's so so so good. Best dollar I've spent in a while.
DeleteThe only reason I haven't gotten the song yet is that I have never downloaded from itunes, only Amazon, so I have to figure that out. Let's just say that I am much older than the usual demographic for new music, I grew up in the 50s and 60s! But I really love Elise's sound and her soulfulness!
ReplyDeleteThe song is on Amazon. That's actually where I bought it from because I had an Amazon credit.
