Selegend is releasing her greatest hits album For You on November 24th, and she has just dropped the gut-wrenching lead single. 'The Heart Wants What It Wants' is a huge change in sound for the singer, getting more mature and giving us her "most personal record" to date.
"Save your advice 'cause I won’t hear / You might be right but I don't care / There's a million reasons why I should give you up…but the heart wants what it wants," Selena sings over the trippy beat and finger snaps. I like this direction and it works well with her voice.
The video, though, is even more devastating. It begins with her baring her soul in an audio recording that establishes how Bieber ruined their relationship, and it's a lot to take in. The 'Birthday' singer breaks down in the video as she sings about the tug-of-war being played with her heart.
She used to be our little pop diva, but over the past year she has matured. And if she keeps this up she could release an Adele album for the bubblegum pop crowd,
