'Mac Viva-Glam Challenge' by RuPaul's Drag Race

This week on RuPaul's Drag Race the remaining six queens begin the episode by finding out all the mirrors in the werk-room have been covered up. For their mini-challenge the girls pair up and have to do each other's make-up. This challenge was actually recently done in the All Stars season premiere episode so it was cool to see the precursor to that challenge. For the most part the girls did a fantastic job, but it was Jade who Ru thought did the best. Ru tells the girls that for their main challenge they must create a thirty second commercial for Viva Glam for which RuPaul was the original spokes model. He has been succeeded by the likes of Nicki Minaj and Mary J. Blige. The winner of this challenge will become the new face of Viva-Glam.
For the most part, the girls come up with some really great ideas and create some amazing ads. BeBe and Ongina are the instant standouts. BeBe dresses in traditional female clothing from Cameroon and she looks like an African goddess. Since HIV/AIDS is rampant in Africa she is able to speak from the heart and it comes across with great sincerity. Ongina's motto is to celebrate life, and she puts a spark in her ad and her personality really shines through. Jade looks fantastic but her personality is a bit muddled, and despite having an extra five minutes, she still doesn't seem prepared. Nina has issues speaking because of her weak English skills, but she produces a decent ad overall. Shannel's is a travesty because she misunderstands the challenge and instead creates a ten minute story instead of a thirty second ad. Rebecca, however, creates the most commotion. She says she's so overcome with emotion because her friend died of AIDS that she walks out of the studio. It's very unprofessional, and I don't completely buy it. I, like BeBe, think she was faking it in order to get ahead in the game.

Jade Sotomayor
Jade was underwhelming this week, and it's pretty obvious that she's going to be in the Bottom Two. This week on the runway she goes for a dominatrix look. I actually think this is the best look she's rocked since the first episode. She looks sexy and dangerous; a true femme fatale. I just wish she would carry that attitude into the challenges because she has the potential to be a force to be reckoned with.

BeBe Zahara Benet
BeBe turned it out this week! Her African goddess look in the main challenge was gorgeous, and on the runway she just looks divine. She comes out in this black and white ensemble that is stunning on her body, and then she lifts off her hat to reveal a crystal headpiece that pushes the look over the top. BeBe knows how to werk that runway, and she tore the house down this week.

Rebecca Glasscock
Rebecca was a train wreck this week, and that carries into her runway. I might sound hypocritical because when Tatiana did a similar look in Season 2 I raved about it, but the problem with Rebecca is that she has such a manly body that the tight hip-hugging dress doesn't flatter her. It only accentuates her broad shoulders and lanky limbs. I'm just not a fan of her look this week.

Ongina
Ongina, like BeBe, turned it out. This is my favorite look she's done this whole competition, and I think this is the first time we've really seen the true Ongina aesthetic. I love the big puffy black skirt, and her make-up is on point. It's tight, but BeBe and Ongina are battling for that #1 spot this week.

Nina Flowers
Nina hustled through the challenge this week, but her runway was not as strong as it could have been. I love what she was going for, but the open-chested one-piece was not becoming of her. It reads as "man in women's clothing" which is not what you want in a drag competition. The make-up, hair and feather wings are awesome, but the manly body on display throws off the illusion which is a shame.

Shannel
Lastly we have Shannel, and she is determined to make up for her huge screw up during the challenge. Shannel comes out wearing almost nothing, giving us multiple "Ass Alerts," and she shows off her Vegas showgirl skills by doing some amazing juggling the entire time she walks the runway. She doesn't mess up once and she shows those other bitches how it's done. I lived for this.

It was between Ongina and BeBe to take home the prize, but it was Ongina who RuPaul crowned as the next Mac Viva-Glam spokesperson. When she wins though, Ongina breaks down and tells the world that she has been living with HIV for a couple years. This is the first emotional moment of the season, and it's what has had a lasting influence on the following seasons. It's a touching moment. We then find out that Rebecca and Jade will be lip-syncing against each other. The two turn it out, and even get a little feisty before Ru rightfully sends Jade packing. It's unfortunate she had to go home, but Jade just wasn't giving the competition her all.
