'Gold Grill BBQ' Music Video by Krysta Youngs featuring Laganja Estranja & Melanie Fontana
Another RuPaul's Drag Race Season Sixer has hopped on the music train. Adore and Courtney are already music divas, and others are set to join them, but the latest getting that promo is one of my all-time favorites, Laganja Estranja. The daughter of Alyssa Edwards, Laganja is one fierce performer, and her song on the Season Six compilation album showed she had true rapping talent.
Teaming up with indie hip-hop artist Krysta Young, Laganja contributes a verse to the hot track 'Gold Grill BBQ' which is sure to make its way onto your "Best of Summer" playlists this year. The track is a non-sensical hip-hop track about a gold grill. Laganja's verse is pretty hot and she even works in "sashay away" which were her departing words on Drag Race. Melanie Fontana also spits some hot rhymes, dropping my favorite lick of the piece: "lyrical gold ain't free."
The video was completely funded by the three artists, but it's pretty slick. A group of very diverse and unique individuals come together for a good ole fashioned Fourth of July BBQ. Laganja looks stunning (but when doesn't she?), and flanked by the fabulous Barbie's Addiction, Laganja busts out her signature choreography, even going into a split from a standing split. That girl can do anything.
Laganja never gets the recognition she deserves, but she's quickly cleaning up her reputation with Drag Race fans. Her first solo single, the club-banger 'Legs', I'm hoping will put everyone else to shame. Bow down to the House of Edwards.
