'Pretend' by Tinashe featuring A$AP Rocky

Tinashe dropped her first major label release '2 On' earlier this year, and in the past few weeks its been steadily climbing the charts. It's almost impossible to turn on an urban radio station and not hear Tinashe's gritty banger. Thankfully, she just announced that her debut album is titled Aquarius and she's given us a second taste of the record.

The second single off the album is 'Pretend' and it's much slower than '2 On' but doesn't lose the sexiness. 'Pretend' is an atmospheric midtempo about the roleplay that occurs in relationships. A$AP Rocky joins her on the song playing her lover, although I could do without his verse because it doesn't add much.

Over the trip-hop beat, Tinashe coos, "When I’m looking for love, I pretend it’s you / A love that never ends." It feels very old school R&B mixed with Madonna's Ray of Light, and that is quite a triumphant feat. I can't wait to hear what else she's going to show us in the coming months.

Tinashe's debut album Aquarius will be released on October 7th.
