'As Real As You and Me' and 'Dancing In the Dark' by Rihanna
While we're still waiting for the follow-up single to 'FourFiveSeconds' and the impending release of #R8, we've at least got something to tide us over. Rihanna has cultivated the soundtrack for the new DreamWorks film Home in which she also voices the main character. The first single 'Towards the Sun' was released a while back but the whole album has finally leaked.
The first song up is 'As Real As You and Me' which is a signature Rih Rih ballad. I honestly think this could be as huge as 'Stay'. It's a slow-burning, Rodney Jerkins-produced track that has Rihanna's smoky vocals lingering over the piano-driven beat. It's just perfection.
'Dancing In the Dark' sees Rih Rih get into her island groove like we've become accustomed to. The song is a big Stargate and Ester Dean produced and written bop that reminds me a bit of 'You Da One' from Talk That Talk. It's your standard Rihanna album filler track.
It's not her "new sound" we're expecting for #R8, but I'll take this any day over nothing.
