Misha B was the standout contestant on The X Factor UK last fall, and she is coming back fighting after her upsetting fourth place finish on the show. Misha was by far the most talented and most artistic contestant on the show this year, meshing rap in the vein of Missy Elliott and Nicki Minaj with the vocal intensity and power of big belters like Jennifer Hudson. To say that she is unique and a force to be reckoned with is an understatement. She is gearing up to release her debut album soon, and the first single from the album is 'Home Run' for which the music video just premiered today. First off, the video is much more pop oriented than one would have expected, but by the ends Misha ramps up the rapping and it is ratchet enough to compete with the Harajuku Barbie herself. While the video is very low budget because it's basically Misha and just a few dancers dancing around, it is definitely a good one to watch. What is really striking is seeing Misha performing. She has such confidence and a quirky personality which really draws the viewer in. She really reminds me of Missy Elliott but with a bigger range. By the end of the video we reach a glow-in-the-dark-paint-on-body segment that is becoming tired and overdone, but is still fun nonetheless. With this video, Misha has proved she is going to be a huge success, and I can only hope that she will make the leap across the pond soon because America deserves to witness her impressive talent.
