The X Factor USA 2012: Top 10

Even Thanksgiving can't stop The X Factor. Capitalizing on the theme of the holiday, the contestants had to sing songs that would "give thanks" to someone special in their lives. This episode was a tearjerker. I cried at least three or four times, and got misty eyed for almost all of the contestants. These kids have some heartbreaking stories to share. There were some very good performances, and then there were some not so good ones.

Tate Stevens

Once again, Tate delivers a flawless performance. His song choices every week are perfect, and he really know himself inside out as an artist. Honestly, there isn't much more I can say.

Diamond White

Diamond is once again taking on a huge song by a woman with a huge voice. And Diamond once again kills it. She definitely does need to make sure she doesn't over do it because she struggled with some of the top notes this time. Otherwise, her voice was powerful and she delivered this week.

Emblem 3

This week the boys are going a different route by singing OneRepublic. I think it was a good song choice for them, but they didn't deliver it vocally. I felt it was very bland, and it was lacking emotion. They were just going through the words and not connecting at all. These boys need to get themselves together if they're gonna make it further.

Arin Ray

I wasn't crazy about this song choice, and it just didn't fit Arin. I think Britney is so concentrated on Carly Rose and Diamond that she's in some ways neglecting Arin and Beatrice. It was a boring song, and it never went anywhere. I think this may be the last stop on his journey.

Cece Frey

Before I bash her this week, I have to say that her story about her sister had me sobbing. It was by far the most heart-breaking of the night. That being said, Cece by far had the worst performance of the night; it was a train wreck. Her vocals were all over the map, and the were shaky and pitchy. And then she couldn't even finish the last note. It was painful to listen to. I would say she is going home, but with the sob story she may stick around longer.
This is how bad it was...
Fifth Harmony

You knew someone had to sing 'I'll Stand By You'! The five-piece took on the song and did a decent job with it. It wasn't anything to rave about, but it was still better than some others tonight. I think it's just that this song is sung so much on competition shows that it's wearing out its welcome.

Beatrice Miller

I honestly think this was one of her best performances of the entire competition. I could totally see her releasing music like this in the future. She gave a very good vocal performance, and really made me believe in her tonight.

Vino Alan

As much as I dislike him, I can't hate on him this week because he sang one of the best songs ever written. This song has a strong connection with me being a military brat, and I have fond memories of this song. It's really hard to screw this one up, so thankfully he did the song justice. This performance could put him on top.

Paige Thomas

Why would you sing Britney Spears's best ballad in front of the Queen herself?! That was a stupid decision. And then how dare you disgrace the song with a vocal performance like that? I love you Paige, but that was atrocious. This was her worst performance of the competition. I feel bad for Britney having to hear her song defiled in front of her.

Carly Rose Sonenclar

Thankfully, we have Carly to resurrect our faith in humanity. She brings out the big guns and sings 'Over the Rainbow', starting off a cappella and then the music slowly builds. She completely murders the song (in a good way!), and blows the roof off the place. The best performance from BOTH seasons! There's no doubt she'll be number one this week.

It's always interesting how in the same week some people can have their best performance, and then others have their worst. Based on the performances I would say Cece and Paige are going home. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Arin was eliminated first, and then Beatrice and Cece were put in the Bottom Two. I don't think we even needed to hear them sing to know who was going to be eliminated. The judges unanimously sent Beatrice home. I think this was a good decision though because she just isn't ready for this yet. Sadly, Britney lost two acts this week and now has the same amount of acts as the other judges. This was a crazy week, and next week the contestants will be taking on #1 hits and there will be yet again another double elimination.
Thank you once again for reading my re-cap!
