'Sugar and Spice' by Willow Smith
Willow Smith went viral when she released her first single 'Whip My Hair', and then had very little success with her second single '21st Century Girl', but her latest release will completely change your perception of the offspring of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. 'Sugar and Spice' was released on the singer's SoundCloud page a few days ago, and it's not what you would expect from the twelve year-old songstress. The song is a haunting ballad about trying to be two things you're not. It actually has very deep, meaningful lyrics that anyone can relate to. Willow sings “I sat in front of the TV screen / Sad he’s always screaming at me / They wanna puncture me and then wonder why I bleed.” Wow. Her beautiful vocals rise above the music, ethereal in their power. If this doesn't make you tear up a bit then you're made of stone. I'm thoroughly impressed. I've always been a supporter of Miss Smith, but with this release I'm an even more rabid fan of hers.
