'Brooklyn Nights' by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga's ARTPOP era has run into many problems along the way, despite the success of songs like 'Applause' and 'Do What U Want'. We still have yet to receive the video for her R. Kelly duet and she announced at her SXSW keynote that she's releasing a new video on March 22nd which is rumored to either be 'Venus' or 'G.U.Y.'. Despite all the confusion, yesterday we received a gift from above.

'Brooklyn Nights' was a track originally meant to be included on ARTPOP, but at the last minute it was removed from the tracklisting. Thankfully, it has leaked and all I have to say is that it was a huge mistake to leave off of ARTPOP. The fact of the matter is the song is better than the majority of her latest album.

The song is a gorgeous piece of music that's "melancholy and personal" as Gaga put it, and it's an ode to the Empire State and even young love. The lyrics are deep and emotional, and with a fat swelling beat it has everything going for it. This is a sound where Gaga excels, and I only hope that ARTPOP Act II has more stuff like this and less 'Jewels & Drugs'.
