'I Was Gonna Cancel' Music Video by Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue's Kiss Me Once still gets played on the weekly en mi casa, and I live to see what she does next. The album's got some pretty great hits on it, although I don't think she has picked the best songs to release since 'Into the Blue'. But we gotta keep on keepin' on.
Kylie decided her next single release would be the Pharrell-produced 'I Was Gonna Cancel', offering up less Europop sex and more old school groove than we're used to from the Aussie Queen. I will say that the song has a certain catchiness to it, but its strength relies in its "feel good" message.
The video for the song was just released and it's quite pedestrian. Literally. Since the song was written about Kylie thinking about canceling on Pharrell and then having a breakdown in the studio, she decided to go for a more conceptual approach to the video.
In the clip, Kylie is singing and dancing in the middle of a crowded street as hundreds of people pass her by. During the instrumental bits, everyone comes together in true Kylie style and dances together. The video is meant to symbolize how everyone has their own demons and problems, even if they're just passerby's, but we still gotta keep our heads up and soldier on. It's simple yet effective.
