La Roux, who is now just the London synth-pop songstress Elly Jackson, has just dropped the official first single from her upcoming album Trouble in Paradise. The buzz single 'Let Me Down Gently' unveiled La Roux's new sound with an epic cacophony of sound, but now we're getting something a bit more dance-worthy.

'Uptight Downtown' is the official first single off the upcoming album, and it's an impressive synth-pop disco jam that gets the adrenaline pumping. Over frenetic synths and some great soulful rhythms, Elly Jackson's vocals soar.

The chorus is particularly infectious as Elly warns that "the temperature is rising" amidst the perfect instrumentation that makes this a certifiable pop gem. Come find me when you find a better comeback single than this one.

Trouble in Paradise is set to be released on July 8th.
