'West Coast' Music Video by Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey is ready to begin her second coming with her upcoming album Ultraviolence. The first single from the album was released a few weeks ago, and it's still one of my favorites at the moment. She's bringing a new sound, but her visual aesthetic has not changed.
Lana released the music video for her single 'West Coast' today. In typical Lana fashion it's a visual experience that has many undertones to it that make it quite a complex story. Lana can be seen with a younger rocker guy who she dances with on the beach, but then she's riding around Gatsby style with an older gentleman.
I'm assuming she's trying to portray different forms of love, but then the video ends with Lana doing her signature twirl whilst on fire. Is she being demonized for her relationships as neither the older man or the punk are acceptable by society? Who knows what the concept is, but Lana has once again given us something to mull over while watching a retro visual.
