'I Adore U' Music Video by Adore Delano
It was only two weeks ago that Season 6 of the critically acclaimed RuPaul's Drag Race crowned Bianca Del Rio as its winner. That meant that #party queen Adore Delano took second place. She was quick to announce her debut album Till Death Do Us Party, as well as to drop her debut single 'DTF'. With her album dropping today, the Chola queen is keeping the momentum going with her second single.
In what is a rather genius move, Adore is releasing her eponymous double entendre song 'I Adore U' as the second single off her album. It is quite a quick turnaround from 'DTF', but Adore wants to get her name out there and I'd say she's doing a damn good job.
While 'DTF' was more of your typical raunchy drag queen song all about sex, Adore's showing off her more musical side with 'I Adore U'. The song still maintains that hip-hop flava of 'DTF' but this one is more in the vein of Katy B as it's a somber ballad made for the clubs. While Adore's professing her love for a boy, you can still dance the night away to the hot beat.
My one qualm with the song is that there is far too much auto-tune. Adore already has a gorgeous tone to her voice, and she's quite the belter so the auto-tune just gets in the way. However, I love how she mixes the gorgeous choruses with spit fire raps. It's a great juxtaposition.
The video for the song starts with a slo-mo reverse look at events that lead to Adore's break-up. Adore appears out of drag as Danny Noriega as well, and ends up finding a cute boy at the end. There's no man candy or great moments like in the 'DTF' video, but it fits the song perfectly.
