'Almost Home' by Mariah Carey

I think I speak for everyone when I say we are all anxiously awaiting the release of Oz The Great and Powerful, an origin story of the Wizard of Oz and the Wicked Witch of the West. The film stars Mila Kunis and James Franco among other notable actors. This film seems like it's going to be a huge cinematic experience, and I've been waiting for it to finally be released for a while now. In a big movie like this you need a big song sung by a pop diva to play during the credits. And who was tasked with this job? None other than Mariah Carey, the woman with the angelic voice. Mimi hasn't done so well in the music scene over the past few years, and with the release of 'Triumphant (Get 'Em)' her career was basically dead. But then she was chosen to be as a judge on American Idol (which she is excelling at apart from her obnoxious diva behavior), and now with this song she has restored some of my faith in her. 'Almost Home' is a beautiful uptempo pop song, something I was not expecting at all. When the song starts off it almost doesn't even sound like Mimi because she's singing in a lower register, but it's entrancing. The song builds and her voice sounds outstanding on the track. The song even has this dubstep breakdown that threw me for a loop at first, but works so perfectly that it's actually strange. This is by far the best song Mariah has released in years, and I only hope that her next album will be more like this because she could have a huge resurgence in her career if she plays her cards right.
