'Draggle Rock' by RuPaul's Drag Race

This week on RuPaul's Drag Race the remaining 12 queens took on comedy challenges that had us either rolling on the floor laughing, or staring awkwardly at the screen. It's actually amazing how this season has so many new and exciting challenges. For the mini-challenge, Ru tasked the girls to get into pairs and create their own "daughter" to compete in the first ever Miss Junior Drag Superstar pageant. The girls created some colorful characters, and Roxxxy and Detox stood out more for Detox's impression of Rachel Zoe, but it was Alaska and Lineysha that stole the show. Their drag daughter, Lil' Pound Cake, was the breakout star of the show this week and she took the internet by storm. Alaska went into full overdrive pageant mom and was hysterical. It was clear that Alaska and Lineysha would win this challenge. Ru then told the girls that for their main challenge they would have to create a children's TV show rife with double entendres. Alaska and Lineysha were team captains, and it was clear there would be trouble ahead for Lineysha's team.
As the girls begin preparing for the main challenge, Coco can no longer take the rift and awkwardness between her and Alyssa so she finally confronts Alyssa to try and smooth things over. Has this finally been the moment we've all been waiting for? Not exactly. Alyssa and Coco both somewhat explain their sides, and it's pretty clear that Coco is the one to blame in this situation. She's the one that keeps bringing up the feud, but then when Alyssa tries to talk she cuts her off and doesn't listen. I really wanted to root for Coco, but I'm definitely #TeamAlyssa for now. Ultimately, nothing was resolved, but neither was there a huge blowout or an emotional mending of broken bridges.
And now for the main challenge. First up is Team Alaska, and let's just say that they creamed the competition. Their entire show was hilarious in a good way. Detox's chicken (which all I could think of was Raven's chicken back in Season 2) killed me, and she wasn't afraid to get down and dirty with it. The tossing salad portion almost killed me, and it showed that Roxxxy can also do comedy, but poor Vivienne was lost in the dust. She's no Jujubee... Monica once again completely faltered and should go home this week. Alyssa was decent, but it was Alaska's choice to not come in drag that was the talk of the town. Moving to Team Lineysha, we found ourselves on a sinking ship that elicited minimal laughs, all from Jinkx who was the only one trying to save the ship. It's clear that Jinkx is a phenomenal actress, and is a huge contender for the winner of this challenge. I love Jinkx so much it's not even funny. Otherwise, the rest of the team was horrid. Jade was blah, Ivy tried to help Lineysha but they both crashed and burned, and Honey could have been fantastic had Coco done what she was supposed to. Team Lineysha was a train wreck I'm sorry to say. Now on to the runway!

Detox
Detox blew me away with this outfit. She killed it like no other as she charged that runway, boobs bouncing up and down with every step. The outfit was slutty but tastefully done. She was the clear winner this week in terms of the runway.

Alaska
We're finally getting to see who Alaska really is, and I could not be happier. I loved the look this week as she walked the runway with a pink gun in tow, and what would appear to be pink blood splattered all over her dress and body. It was an interesting look, but finally it's very Alaska and not Sharon.

Monica Beverly Hillz
Poor Monica. She's definitely going home this week. She doesn't let herself go, and thus sabotages herself in this competition. Her performance in the main challenge was horrendous. Thankfully her runway look this week is pretty decent, but it still falls below the other girls.

Alyssa Edwards
I'm really starting to warm up to Alyssa. She's a pageant girl through and through, and it shows this week. I loved her outfit. It was girly, flirtatious and fun, and she's just so polished. I just hope she doesn't become like Alexis Mateo and fall into a rut. I want her to experiment a bit in the future.

Vivienne Pinay
Vivienne's pretty, but that's about it I'm sad to say. She's been in the background the whole competition, and this week showed that she just can't hack it. She has beauty, but no substance. I loved her runway look this week, but if she doesn't go home next week I will be shocked.

Roxxxy Andrews
Roxxxy comes barreling down the runway this week looking fantastic. I love everything about the look, and it's safe to say that Roxxxy will be here until the very end. She's got the whole package, and an attitude to match. The one criticism I have is her make-up. She's painted for days, but if she were to tone it down a bit she would look even more sickening.

Lineysha Sparx
Lineysha this week was just okay, but I think she appeared worse because of her huge high last week. She meant to use her Spanish as an advantage for the TV show, but it actually made things worse. The only funny part was when she mistranslated a fruit. Her outfit was great, and she is a beautiful Puerto Rican beauty.

Jinkx Monsoon
Jinkx's outfit this week was outstanding, and one of my favorites this season so far. I thought it was perfect and she could have easily won this challenge, but because she's over in left field I feel like she's never going to get the recognition she deserves just like Pandora Boxx. She's one of the most well-rounded queens this show has ever had, and I hope she continues to slay in the weeks to come.

Ivy Winters
Ivy this week went for a Vegas showgirl look. I loved it, but the whole circus performer looks she comes out each week are starting to wear thin. She needs to think outside the box. I really like her, but I think she's falling behind the curve and she's not going to last much longer in this competition.

Honey Mahogany
Honey, gurl, what are you wearing? It looks like she took a huge pink piece of fabric and wrapped it around herself. It wasn't even an outfit. This was by far the worst outfit of the night. Again, Honey is hiding in the background, and she'll be going home soon.

Jade Jolie
Jade looked gorgeous this week, going for some high glamour in pink. I love how she can switch up her look every week, but this week her performance in the main challenge was a bit underwhelming. She could have taken it up and beyond, but she just kind of gave up. Bring it, hunty!

Coco Montrese
To be honest, I actually loved Coco's look. It was cutesy and fun, although it was a bit creepy since she's the oldest one there dressing like a 5 year-old. It was a well put together outfit though. Coco was not mentally there in the competition this week and that showed in her main challenge performance. She didn't even try, and basically threw Honey under the bus.
When you get this reaction out of the panel, you know your group sucked. Instead of judging by group (which was a good idea), each girl was individually judged and by no surprise Detox won the challenge. It was obvious that Monica was going to fall into the Bottom Two, but what did surprise me was that Coco fell into the bottom as well. The two lip synced to the Pussycat Dolls' 'When I Grow Up' and it was clear that as soon as Coco did a quick change she was going to wipe the floor with Monica. She sang for her life, and gave a fantastic performance. Monica knew she was going home and sadly she didn't even fight for her place. Monica was told to sashay away like we were all expecting her to.
Just like Ru's reaction this week, Untucked was rather "blah." Not much really happened. Jade got a video message from her boyfriend who was actually "straight" when she met him. It was a sweet message, but it didn't really create a moment like I think the producers wanted it to. And then when Coco and Alyssa were in the same room together the girls tried to instigate them, but nothing transpired. It was another fantastic week of RuPaul's Drag Race Season V, and next week we have ballet to look forward to with guest judges Chaz Bono and Travis Wall from So You Think You Can Dance.
