'Angeles' Music Video by Wrathschild
Power pop duo Wrathschild only released their second single 'Angeles' a week ago and now we're getting the video. Their first video for 'Fall Into Love' was an indie masterpiece full of onesie witchcraft fun. Their new visual offering is more low-key, but it never loses Wrathschild's unique vision.
Just like the song, the video is an ode to the city of Los Angeles. It sees Ro "Wolfy" and Simon Curtis traveling through the town, showing off its various elements from the streets to the market to the bus to outside the bodega. The most prominent feature of the visual is that it makes clear distinctions between the dark and light, highlighting the land of dreams of heartbreak sentiment of the track.
I'm now convinced that Wolfy and Simon are in a coven. Just like their first video, the most compelling moments come when things get a bit dark and twisted. Both singers appear lighting a rose on fire, and later they're shellacked in gold paint as they sing into the camera. It's these striking visuals that really make the video.
Of course the moment everyone's going to be talking about comes as the duo begin changing into their wedding attire. Simon appears in mid-change and we get a plentiful screen of booty. More proof that they're in a coven 'cause dat ass is a gift from the powers above. But I digress. The video then ends with what appears to be a union of holy matrimony between the duo and their beloved city of Los Angeles.
This video has it all, and while it may not be as fun of an adventure as 'Fall Into Love', it's a clever and memorable piece of art that only gets me even more excited to see and hear more.
