Summer Shows

Summer is the prime season for music, but it is also a great time for TV.  The two big shows this summer are 'True Blood' and 'Falling Skies'.  'True Blood' is now in its fourth season and still going strong, and 'Falling Skies' just premiered a little over a week ago.  Of course there are other shows such as 'America's Got Talent', 'So You Think You Can Dance' and 'Master Chef' (all of which I watch), but I'm sure you're all aware of those by now.  Just wanted to highlight the lesser knowns.

Now that 'Lost' has come to an end, and 'Friends' ended quite a long time ago, 'True Blood' is my new favorite show.  This is what a vampire show is supposed to be like, not like that crap 'Twilight'.  The show is based on the 'Southern Vampire Mysteries' series written by Charlaine Harris which I have chronicled on the site a few times now.  This is truly one of the few times when the live-action adaption is better than the book.  The season premiere this past Sunday was great, and I am so happy where the show is leading.  Not only are there vampires, telepaths, were-animals and faeries, but now witches are coming into play.  You must check this out if you haven't already.  It really is the best show on television at the moment.

'Falling Skies' is a brand new TNT series whose executive producer is the one and only, Steven Spielberg.  The show centers around the way people are trying to survive living in a world after alien/robots have invaded and have killed all the soldiers and abducted many of the children.  The series is a fresh new take on the whole idea, and it looks like it should be a pretty interesting show.  Definitely something you should check out if you like that kind of stuff.
