'Heart' by Glee

This week was the Valentine's Day episode of Glee, and even though it was filled with romance and good-hearted fun, it also served as a tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston.  The main emphasis of the episode was Rachel and Finn's ever looming marriage, but we also got to see the return of Karofsky and the introduction of a new character, Joe Hart, to the God Squad.  All-in-all it was a very enjoyable episode.

Tina and Mike kicked off the episode with the song aptly named 'L-O-V-E'.  While it's also nice to hear the two of them sing together, I could really do without it because their stuff is usually too boring.  At least during the episode their performance was done during a montage of other goings-on at the school so I wasn't totally bored to tears.

This was one of the best songs of the episode.  Artie always does really great renditions of songs, and this Usher classic was no exception.  Artie's smooth vocals brought some swag to the song, and I had a smile plastered across my face.  We definitely need more performances like this.

Who doesn't love this song?  Finn enlists the services of the God Squad to sing a song to Rachel, and what results is a huge extravaganza.  Mercedes even brings in her church choir to sing back-up.  The song is also the debut performance of Joe, and he doesn't have a bad voice.  I think he'll be a great addition to the ensemble.  I also loved Sam's rapping; not bad!

Does Rory sing anything other than sappy ballads?  He has a good voice and all, but it's getting repetitive.  It would be nice to see him do something else, and it would also be great to see him in the show more often because I feel like he's always thrown into the background.

And the moment everyone was waiting for.  Mercedes was already set to sing this song to Sam after she decides they won't ever be together, but after Whitney's passing they decided to extend the performance.  It was so emotional watching it, and I was on the verge of tears.  I can honestly say that Mercedes sang the song as good as Whitney.  That girl has some pipes!  Amber Riley (who plays Mercedes) is currently working on her debut album so hopefully in the near future we can hear some great music from her!

This one is a duet between Rachel's dads.  How cool would it be to live in their house for a day?  The song wasn't really my thing, but it was still fun to watch.  I think Mr. and Mr. Berry should be on the show more because they were hilarious and are both extremely talented.

Earlier on in the episode, Santana challenged Joe and the God Squad to sing a Valentine's song to Brittany simply because she's gay, and in the end Joe comes through and helps sing the song.  The song got everybody moving and prepped for the big finale.

Sugar's big Valentine's Day hoopla ends with the return of Blaine as the whole Glee Club joins in singing the classic 'Love Shack'.  Breadstix goes crazy, and turns into one big musical bash.  Not a bad way to end the episode.

The episode's main focus was Finn and Rachel telling everyone about their marriage plans.  Finn's parents seem to be okay with it, but Rachel's dads are less than enthused.  By the end of the episode, most people are on board with the marriage, as ridiculous as it may be.  The other big plot moment was at the end when Karofsky reveals himself as the one who's been sending Kurt secret admirer Valentines, and he tells Kurt that he's in love with him.  Kurt tries to put him down easily, but as Karofsky's leaving a jock from his school sees what has happened.  Uh oh!  Next week is the big winter finale, and there's going to be a moment that "will change everything."  It's rumored to be a death, most likely Karofsky so we'll see!  Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day!
