Rihanna's Big F-U to All Her Fans: 'Birthday Cake'

Everyone is aware of the tumultuous relationship Rihanna had with ex-boyfriend and hip-hop singer Chris Brown, and I have made my thoughts on the scumbag quite clear, but it seems like their relationship has gone to an entirely new level.  On Rihanna's most recent album 'Talk That Talk' there is an interlude 'Birthday Cake' that is, in my opinion, the best song on the entire album, and since the day it was released the Rihanna Navy has been dying to get a full version of the song.  Recently, rumors surfaced that fans were finally going to hear it and that it would also feature a shocking collaboration.  Both rumors came true last night which coincidentally happened to be Rihanna's 24th birthday.  And who was the shocking collaborator?  None other than woman-beater, Chris Brown.  The second it was released the entire internet lit up like I have very rarely seen.  Everyone and their mother was expressing their thoughts on what had just happened.  The overall consensus with anyone who has conscience was that Rihanna just committed career suicide and gave all of her fans the middle finger.  It's one thing for Rihanna to forgive Chris for his transgressions and then move on, but by letting him be on her song, as well as be featured on the remix of Chris' new single, she just set the example that even if you are abused you should reunite with the person who did it and act as if nothing ever happened?  There's something twisted about that right?

Most of her fans are outraged that she would even contemplate doing something like this.  After the incident, Rihanna was interviewed on 20/20 and broke down in tears.  She even said that she wanted to be a role model to young girls everywhere that domestic violence is not okay.  In her video for 'Man Down' she murders her abuser, and in 'We Found Love' she depicted the sick cyclical relationship she had with Chris.  And now in the song, Chris Brown says "I wanna f*ck you right now" and the song is one of the most overtly sexual songs out there.  Rihanna has completely disrespected her fans in every way possible, and despite how amazing the song is she has shot herself in the foot.  Her label, Island Def Jam, even said that they explicitly told Rihanna not to release this song, and they in no way endorse this action.  It saddens me on so many levels that Rihanna would do this to her loyal Navy, let alone the disrespect to any woman who has ever gone through an abusive relationship.  I'm sure in the weeks and months that ensue we'll see what repercussions this has, but it's safe to say that Rihanna is no longer the beautiful and courageous woman she once was.
