'Berzerk' by Eminem
Eminem has created a few gems over the past few years, giving us all songs we could rap to without feeling ridiculous. A lot of his music has been very preachy, dark and intense; but Eminem is giving us what we have been clamoring for for many years. During the MTV VMAs, Eminem announced that his new album Marshall Mathers LP 2 would be dropping November 5th, and today we got the first single. 'Berzerk' goes back to the glory days of Em's career and it's giving me what I hoped it would. The track is very '80s/early '90s hip-hop sounding which I love because rap was awesome during that time, but Eminem is also employing a lot of old school rock. He even throws a few jabs at the Kardashians, Lamar Odom and Kevin Federline: I live. I can tell you there is nothing like this out there at the moment, and who knows if it'll be played on the radio? But one fact remains, Eminem is bringing back the glory days, and since fans have been clamoring for the return of Marshall Mathers I think we are all going to be in for a treat. Like Em says, "Take your shoes off, let your hair down and go berzerk all night long / Grow your beard out, just weird out and go berzerk all night long."
