'Perfume' Music Video by Britney Spears
I love Britney with all my heart and I think that Britney Jean is one of the strongest albums in her catalogue, but I will never forgive her management team for ruining what could have been an epic era. The whole era has been a mess, but the release of the 'Perfume' music video is an absolute travesty. The video was directed by Joseph Kahn whose brilliant work includes Britney's 'Stronger', 'Toxic' and 'Womanizer' music videos so we all had our expectations at an all-time high. That is until Kahn took to Twitter to tell the fans that Brit's team changed the concept of his work, rightfully so, he was furious. At the time he seemed like a drama queen but now it all makes sense. In the video for 'Perfume', Britney is seen hanging out with this guy and is having fun as she sings about marking her territory. She even whips out a bottle of her own Fantasy fragrance to seal the deal. But get this: Britney's the other woman. We then see the same shots from the beginning of the video recreated with a brunette. The video is all leading up to an epic confrontation with Britney driving in her truck. And then the video ends. Her team literally took out the climax of the video which entailed Britney holding the couple at gunpoint, killing the girlfriend and then running off her with her man. But sadly, all that was cut out and we're left with an underwhelming video. I really hope a Director's Cut is released because this is absolutely ridiculous. The one saving grace is that Britney looks flawless as always, even in her panties and bra (à la 'My Prerogative'). I'm disappointed.
