Glee's breakout star and the girl who's voice has been likened to that of Barbra Streisand is finally making her solo debut. Lea Michele is prepping the release of her new album Louder due out next year. The first single 'Cannonball' is written by the incomparable Sia Furler who has been working with everyone from Britney Spears and Céline Dion this year. The song is obviously written by Sia which brings me to the main criticism of the song: Lea sounds exactly like Sia and I don't hear any originality with her vocals, especially on the chorus. However, the song is a good mix of a great contemporary pop ballad and Lea's signature theatrical style. The verses are where Lea really shines and they make the song worth listening to. It definitely reminds me a lot of Céline's new album which isn't a bad thing. I'm interested to see what the rest of Louder has in store.
