'G.U.Y. - An ARTPOP Film' by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga's ARTPOP era has not been without its ups and downs. From problems with her management backstabbing her and the now infamous "puke art" during her performance at SXSW, many people had deemed the era an ARTFLOP. Gaga is a superior artist and I was holding out hope for her even when the music video for her smash hit 'Do What U Want' never arrived. Thankfully she's brought back the big guns and she's here to make a statement.

Gaga finally announced that the third single from ARTPOP would be the power bottom anthem 'G.U.Y.' which is easily one of the best tracks off her album. With its Zedd-produced pulsing beats it makes a statement, and with Gaga trying to resurrect the era the video could be nothing short of spectacular. She did not fail.
Beginning the video, Gaga is seen to be an elegant bird shot through the chest with an arrow by a mob of angry businessmen who are presumed to be her management/record label. After stumbling through large swaths of nothing she is rescued by men in black who carry her to an elegant mansion. All of this happens while 'ARTPOP' plays. Once she arrives to said mansion, she is welcomed in and undergoes a rejuvenation baptism set to the originally planned second single 'Venus'. From there, the opening chords of 'G.U.Y.' strike up and nothing is the same.
The inclusion of the Real Housewives was totally unnecessary and they weren't even trying to pretend play their instruments which bugs me. But the always fabulous Andy Cohen makes an appearance as Himeros, the Greek god of sexual desire, in the sky watching over Gaga as she undergoes her reverse Warholian transformation complete with epic dance sequences as she's dressed in Versace and quick shots of her writhing around looking sexy. I have to say, it's nice to see massive choreography sequences again, even if the scene looks like it was lifted straight from Britney's 'Overprotected' music video. The video then gets epic as Gaga walks into a massive business tower and blows money out of a bazooka, essentially showing the businessmen that she doesn't want/need their money. It's Gaga at her finest, and I'm happy to say that the ARTPOP era seems to be back on track.
