'Sheezus' Music Video by Lily Allen

Lily Allen is releasing her big comeback album in less than two weeks, and she is giving us yet another peek into the already stellar album. This is now the fourth song she has released, and behind lead single 'Hard Out Here', it's the strongest yet.

Lily is known to critique the music industry and current events in her music with 'Hard Out Here' being the ultimate piece of satire. The name for Lily's album and newly-released title track, Sheezus, should be obvious in its implications. Mirroring Kanye West's egotistical album Yeezus, Lily is tackling her position in the pop music landscape.

'Sheezus' once again follows the something more urban trend that she forayed into with 'Hard Out Here' and I'm sure it's meant to be an ode to 'Yeezus' as well. In probably the most culturally aware song yet, Lily explicitly calls out the divas in the industry; including Beyoncé, Lorde and Gaga.

As always it's extremely clever and Lily shows off her sarcastic humor in her lyrics. In a bizarre move, she goes off on a tangent about getting her period as a way to show how people will blindly buy into asinine songs simply because they stan for artists, regardless of the lyrical content. Very clever, Lily. Very clever.

By the time she gets to the final verse, Lily is in full satirical mode. She brings out the big guns and proclaims herself as Sheezus, telling us that we should all bow down to her almightiness as the best pop diva in the game. The video is bizarre in and of itself, and it invokes M.I.A.'s visual style. It just shows off the brilliance of Lily Allen. She's so self aware of her position in the music landscape that you can't help but stan for her even in its irony.
