'Break Free' Music Video by Ariana Grande featuring Zedd
Ariana Grande is kicking ass and taking names with her My Everything era, becoming the biggest pop superstar of the year. From her chart-topping 'Problem' to her bombastic dance tune for the gays, Ari is giving us what we want. Her video for the Zedd-assisted 'Break Free' is here and it's perfect.
The video for 'Break Free' sees Ariana as an intergalactic space warrior princess, fighting aliens and doing it while looking gorgeous. Her main inspiration for the video was the 1968 cult classic Barbarella starring Jane Fonda. It's basically a 2014 update of the film, and Ari even replicates the opening credits stripping sequence.
The video also samples some Britney Spears such as 'Oops!...I Did It Again' and her iconic Austin Powers cameo which isn't a bad thing, but let's face it, she's not far enough in her career to be compared to the Princess of Pop.
This is by far Ari's most entertaining video to date and I'm in love with it. But I hope too many youngsters don't try and watch Barbarella now because they're going to see more than they bargained for. I do think it's time Ariana gets a new 'do though - that high ponytail has worn out its welcome.
