'Monument' Music Video by Röyksopp & Robyn
Robyn and Röyksopp have been pushing the boundaries with their album Do It Again by crafting sonic landscapes with their epicly long songs, and extending that through their music videos which are narratives in themselves. Their latest release exemplifies this pushing of the envelope.
The near ten minute breathtaking opening to the album, 'Monument', is getting the visual treatment and it, too, is breathtaking. Taking a travel through space and time, the 'Monument' video sees Röyksopp and Robyn floating in a gravity-less illuminated realm.
The trio are warped and distorted, lit from behind and filmed in dizzying turns mimicking the transcendent nature of the song. It's something that wouldn't look out of place in Björk's body of work. These three continue to impress me, and I hope there are more collaborations in the future because what they produce is pop music beyond compare.
Do It Again was released on May 26th.
