'Two Steps Behind Me' by Madonna
Bathroom selfie queen and true #UnapologeticBitch, Madonna, has not been having the best end of the year. After suffering a massive 13 track leak followed by Rebel Heart being put up for pre-order on iTunes to a plethora of leaks since, Madge's new era is a mess filled with some of the hottest songs of her career. However, Rebel Heart has basically been on repeat.
It's no secret that Madonna doesn't quite like Gaga. Through all the indirect shade over the years, and the extremely shady 'Express Yourself/Born This Way/She's Not Me' mash-up on the MDNA Tour, Madonna seems to think Gaga is just a copycat, and the Queen's latest leak seems to speak to that.
'Two Steps Behind Me' leaked over the weekend, and I have to say that it's one of the better songs from Madge's Rebel Heart sessions. A strong piano melody and a pounding dance beat back up Madonna as she sings, "You're a copycat, get back / I'm always on your mind / Take a photograph like that, always ahead of my time."
She goes for the juggular on this track, tearing down the addressee and cutting them like the fearsome bitch she is. The song is on fire and I'm totally addicted to it. Whether it's about Gaga or not it doesn't really matter. This could be written in general to all the haters out there, but what's important is the greatness of this music she's been making. The Queen is ready to snatch all the wigs.
