'Sorry' by Naya Rivera featuring Big Sean
Naya Rivera, who plays the deviously nasty Santana on Glee, is prepping the release of her debut album, and she will be the first female co-star of Glee to release her own solo music. She premiered her first single 'Sorry' yesterday, and it features her boyfriend Big Sean. Santana is known for her deep sultry voice, being able to tackle songs by Amy Winehouse and Adele and pulling them off flawlessly. However, her song 'Sorry' is just blah. She sings most of it in her higher register so we don't get to hear those raspy vocals that I love so much. And it's just boring. The song doesn't go anywhere, with Naya basically singing the same line over and over again. The song has an early Britney Spears sound mixed with R&B, which could be an awesome route for her, but she needs to take it to the next level. I'm really not impressed because I know she has an incredible and powerful voice. What's with all these artists playing it safe recently?
