'Ecstasy' by Courtney Act
Australian drag queen Courtney Act came in third place a year ago on RuPaul's Drag Race, and since then her life has been a rollercoaster as she's reached a new level of fame touring with the other queens as well as participating in the collaborative project with American Apparel. Act also competed on Australian Idol and has released singles in the past such as the fabulous 'To Russia With Love'.
Recently funding herself through a Kickstarter campaign, Act is ready to release her debut EP Kaleidoscope on July 7th. The first single just premiered today, and it's a big change for Act. She's always had a great pop sound, but the lead single 'Ecstasy' is above and beyond anything she's done before.
Written with the production team The Prodigal, 'Ecstasy' was inspired by a religious experience fueled by dancing during a night at Burning Man. "When I'm in my sacred space / I can feel you move through me / And when the DJ sets us free / We will be ecstasy," Act sings across the lush beat.
This song is like a gorgeous mix between Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton, and if this were released to radio it could be a huge hit. The bridge is particularly euphoric. The video, directed by one of Minogue's long-time collaborators, will be released next week.
Courtney Act's debut EP Kaleidoscope will be released on July 7th.
