Keith Urban Is Bringin' the Country Ya'll

Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have already been confirmed to be judges on American Idol season 12, but who's the third? It appears that country superstar Keith Urban will be taking a place at the judges panel this year. Just last night reports started coming in confirming that Keith is signing a $5 million contract to join the show. Although I haven't seen much of him other than in performances on award shows, I think he'll be a great addition. What's good about brining Keith in is that he'll be representing the country audience. This is important because never on the show has there been a judge who is in any way related to country music, even though the show has produced the likes of Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery among a vast crop of other country music artists. He'll bring in a much needed country credibility and knowledge, as well as a whole new fanbase to the show. He seems to be a very charismatic person so it'll be fun to add him to the show. And plus he'll be caught in the middle of the Mariah/Nicki drama so that could play out to be entertaining as well. Any way I look at it, Keith Urban will be the perfect addition to the American Idol. With two women and one man having been confirmed, it stands to reason that they'll be adding a fourth judge. The way we are now is unorthodox for a competition show, but I would love to keep it the way it is. The fourth judge's spot will potentially go to either former contestant Adam Lambert or Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. I would prefer Adam, of course, but what I've seen of Nick on Smash I think he would be a potentially good candidate. However, I really think the show needs a music executive or producer to fill the fourth spot. I am rooting for Pharrell Williams, but there is a huge list of people that could take the spot. It'll be interesting to see where we end up with all these judges. I'm very excited for the new season now!
