Nicki Minaj is this close to signing on the dotted line to become one of the judges on the new panel for season 12 of American Idol. What do I think of this? I'm all for it! Nicki is reportedly in talks to become one of the newest judges, although negotiations are a little tough at the moment. Apparently, the talent agency that represents Idol used to represent Nicki, but about nine months ago feelings soured and Nicki fired them. This is a hold-up at the moment, but if they can work past it it is safe to say that the Harajuku Barbie will be a judge. I think this could be great for the show because Idol desperately needs someone young and prominent on the scene, as well as someone who can spice things up. Steven Tyler was supposed to be the wild card, but he quickly fizzled and he simply became useless. The thing with Nicki is that she will speak her mind, and she definitely won't hold back. And I'm sure her comments will be quite puzzling for middle America with her saying things like "That was ratchet." We all know she has multiple personas, and these could bring some great fun to the panel. It'll also be interesting to see her chemistry with Mariah because we all know that Mimi is a total Diva (with a capital "D"), and I'm sure Nicki will get under her skin. There have already been reports that Mariah is furious about Nicki joining the judging team so this could turn into popcorn-eating TV fun. I love Nicki, and think this could be an awesome stint for her.
