'Thirsty' by Mariah Carey
The Elusive Chanteuse is getting ready for the release of her new album, and with the release imminent it means we're finally being treated to new music from Mimi. It's been three months since she released her Valentine's Day single 'You're Mine (Eternal)' but we're going in a much different direction this time.
Mariah's new single 'Thirsty' is letting her get back up in da club after a long drought of boring pop tunes. The ode to the perpetual thirst that we're all feeling is very reminiscent of her 2008 album E=MC2 (which I'm still a huge fan of) and in particular the song 'Migrate'.
'Thirsty' features Mimi's smoky vocals whispering over the top of a very urban, trap-influenced beat, but it doesn't quite compete with the other urban divas out there at the moment. Mimi always churns up songs you bop to in the privacy of your bedroom, but that's about it. It's good, but she's leaving me thirsty for more.
Mimi's new album Me. I am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse is scheduled for release on May 27th.
