It's been three years since Green Day released their last album, 21st Century Breakdown, but they are gearing up to do something very special for their fans. Instead of just releasing twelve new songs for the fans, they are pulling a Robyn and releasing a trilogy album over the next few months. The series consists of ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!, and ¡Uno! is set to be released on September 24th. The first album will be power-pop, the second garage, and the third epic. The first single off the album, 'Oh Love', just debuted this morning, and it's power-pop Green Day as would be expected. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of this style of their theirs as I prefer the heavier and darker material that they are known for. It's very lackluster and simple. After a few minutes the song gets a bit repetitive, but I can see it being played on radio and having modest success. It'll be interesting to hear what the album sounds like, but I am personally awaiting ¡Tré! which is scheduled to be released in January.
