'West Coast' by Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey won over my heart this past summer when I finally dived into her discography and gave it a proper listen, and since then she has become one of my favorite artists. Of course she stole the show from Gatsby with 'Young and Beautiful' and then the summer anthem remix 'Summertime Sadness' brought her to a whole new public awareness. And now she's back.

Lana Banana began teasing her new project Ultraviolence when she debut her short film 'Tropico', and since then she has been dropping teasers on her Instagram, including that she's working with the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach. All this came as a revelation after she said she might give up music because her muse had not struck. Well it seems like she got her mojo back.

Last night during her Coachella set, Lana premiered the debut single off Ultraviolence and it's up for our listening pleasure today. 'West Coast' is less orchestral and grand like we're used to hearing from the songstress, rather it's much more raw and has that rock vibe mixed with the Wild West. Sort of similar to the original 'Summertime Sadness' and 'Carmen' off her debut, this song is much more alternative. It's a nice change and of course Lana's voice is as heavenly as ever. I'm ready for a new era.

'West Coast' is officially out May 18th. Look for Ultraviolence later this year.
